Well, the past few days I've been sick (due to numerous children in my classroom being absent). We even missed our going away party at the Odom's house. We missed seeing lots of family and I was absolutely devasted that we were unable to make it. I wanted Thomas to leave so that he could atleast see the family even though I was under the weather. But, he did not so we both spent the day laying around and watching lots of college football games, even the Minnesota Golden Gophers, our soon to be new state football team. Don't worry, we won't leave the UGA Bandwagon...Ever. Golden Gophers?! They did pretty well. Haha!
Sunday-- Woke up sick again. Rain still pouring.....
Monday--- Oh look! I feel better. Really wanted some Zaxby's....we also needed some packing tape. We were aware of the flooding all around Metro Atlanta. We decided to head out for a quick trip, and if we could get out of Column's Drive, then we knew we would be fine. The road was fine, we didn't have any major issues leaving and we enjoyed a yummy dinner at Zaxby's, ran to Walmart and headed back to the apartment.
Ooooo.... Dear....What we got to when we were back...
We were driving down the road and it just kept getting worse and worse...
This was after we went as far as we could, watched the water rise, and turned around trying to get back to higher groud to leave the car. We then had to ditch the Xterra and go walking through the murky water with all the other people who had got out because they had to get their ELEMENTARY STUDENTS out of school because Cobb County had school Monday!!

The car on our street...

Behind where we left our car....

Where Thomas told me to walk ahead so he could get a picture of me walking in the water, before it got too deep to take pictures. We ended up about waist deep before we got to dry ground.

Devastation in my eyes.. Adventure in Thomas'. That's why he completes me! He helped me see that this was all okay. We were alive, we were safe, we might be in an apartment without power, but we were dry and if we had to, we could get another car.
Tuesday Morning:
We drove down to the bridge to see if the waters had receded...This is what we found...

We got the Xterra Back!!! The water receded!! Praise God!
Now.. we have prayers and thoughts for all those actually having much more devastation to their homes and their vehicles. We can't thank God enough for his protection on us, but are hearts go out to those less fortunate. And again.. Thank you Thomas, you calmed me, you complete me.

Glad y'all are okay and the car made it! Looking at all the debris just think what y'all were wading through! Hope that was enough adventure to last Thomas for a while. Laura
