This weekend (December 3rd-6th) was
Owatonna's Downtown Christmas Celebration.
On Thursday night, the town had a
small parade and Santa came to light the square.
The snow came just in time to make it very magical and I loved the spirit that followed every person and their excitement when they said "Merry Christmas!" Thomas had his final exam (which he made an A on, I'll brag!!) the following morning, so he was unable to go, but my dear friend Kirsi invited me to tag along with her Aunt Kim, who was visiting this week from Texas. Below is the lights as best I could get them with my weird camera. Not as extravagant as Dahlonega, but the snow does add a little something!!

Friday Night was the celebration of The Village of Yesteryear.
Owatonna preserved a small town from the 1800s. There is an old house, old cabin, the general store, the old post office, an old schoolhouse, and the old church, as well as the old train depot and fire hall that were not open to the public last night. All of it was beyond perfect!! We had a blast with friends and really enjoyed the scenery from the night.
I really enjoyed it and if there were a few things I could take back in time with me, I would gladly live in those days. I find it very magical and so much more simplistic. We were able to make cookies in the general store, drink wassail, and sing carols in the church. We were sprinkled with special dust from Mrs. Claus, to help make us extra good this December! I think it's still in my hair...
This is the furnace from the large house.
Can you imagine that warming you in their cold winters?! It was 12 degrees when we were out! 8 degrees Friday morning!

I wanted so bad a picture of the cabin from the outside, but I could not get it with the lights and my weird camera. This is the stove area. They said a family of 7 lived in this small cabin. It was amazing, 7 of us were standing in there and it was very crowded! What amazement!!
Beautiful General Store.Inside was the menu written on the chalkboard. Just for us Georgians....
The peaches were 35 cents a pound!
Thomas and I inside the gorgeous house. Pretty much could design my house around this mansion (for back in those days.)
Out with friends...
Thomas, Me, Ryan, Megan, Sarah, Peter
